Before any athlete can begin, they MUST have the FHSAA form EL2, the Physical Exam complete
Wrestling is an up close and personal sport. However, we will ensure our equipment is clean, we will wear masks when not training and social distance when appropriate.
The safety of all of our athletes, coaches, family and friends is our top priority.
Our day started early, but it was very worth the effort. Our community gives so much to our team, especially our Nation's veteran's, it was our pleasure to give back and volunteer our time at the James A. Haley VA Hospital, Tampa.
It is important for us to recognize the community members that support our team, but also to recognize the sponsors that also support us. Today, not only was the Wiregrass Ranch H.S. wrestling team represented but 1SEO.com was represented at the Veterans Parade as well.
Ismail is getting ready to escort some of the parade participants as they leave the assembly area and start the parade for the veterans. Our kids did an GREAT JOB representing WRHS, the wrestling team and sponsors.
The Tampa Bay Rough Riders are a local favorite in many of the Tampa Bay parades. They can be seen in the famous Guavaween parades on their floats and participate in nearly all of the local events across the
It was great to see numerous high school JROTC programs doing various drill and ceremony formations for the veterans. All of the kids looked GREAT in their JROTC uniforms...STANDING TALL AND LOOKING GOOD!
As we took this photo, the Public Affairs representative for the VA jumped on the opportunity to also photograph the kids. He said this photo would be posted on the VA's home page. We'll have to see!!!!
The heavyweights, Ismail and Kareem doing the warmup bear crawl strength and conditioning training.
Physical conditioning is a key part to any wrestlers training program.
One of the most important muscles to strengthen and stretch is the neck muscles. Bridging is a key component to ensuring safety on the mats.
Pass the ball push-ups...see the sweat dripping on the mats? GETSUM!
Coach...do we have to bridge????
Follow the leader...buddy bear crawls...giddy up!
ATTENTION ALL PARENTS: Your attendance to the first parents meeting is requested. This meeting will discuss a variety of issues to the 2019-2020 wrestling team. The meeting will cover fundraising, team fee's, transportation, lodging and uniforms. We will conclude the meeting with a Question and Answer session and a tour of the wrestling room.
The meeting will be in the WRHS Cafeteria. The meeting will start at 7:00 pm and will conclude at 8:30 pm. Drinks and snacks will be available. The team will also have fundraising items available for sale so be sure to bring your wallets!
Now is the time our athletes should be preparing in the off-season. Wrestler's should be focusing on developing their freestyle skills as well as their Greco-Roman. These two additional skill sets will add tremendous value to their folkstyle or scholastic style of wrestling. Now is the time each athlete should be participating in a wrestling club and entering in as many off season wrestling competitions as they can get into as time and resources allow. WRHS has a wrestling club, American Warrior Wrestling, that provides the off season training for wrestler's in and around the Pasco, Hillsborough, Polk and Hernando Counties. You can visit American Warrior Wrestling at the "American Warrior Wrestling" link below.
